The One-Red Joint DVD Disc Registration Agreements cover the essential patents of Philips, Sony, Pioneer and LG for the use in the manufacture of DVD-Video or DVD-ROM Discs. A worldwide list of the essential patents, together with applicable expiration dates is available under the "Patent Lists" tab above.

The One-Red Joint DVD Disc Registration Agreements mandate that each shipment be accompanied by a valid Licensed Status Confirmation Document ("LSCD”). The LSCD allows the licensee to demonstrate to customers, customs officials and other stakeholders that the products have been licensed by One-Red. For more information about LSCDs please

If you are a buyer of DVD Discs and want to ensure that you are buying licensed products, please visit our licensee page to verify that your supplier is a registered manufacturer or licensee and requests an LSCD with each order.  One-Red also enables brand owners to enter into an agreement to ensure they trade in licensed products. For more details on the Brand Owner Registration Agreements, please contact One-Red. For the detailed terms and conditions of the One-Red Joint DVD Disc Registration Agreement, see the "Registration Agreements" tab above.

Royalty rates for DVD products can be found
 here.

One-Red registered manufacturers and brand owners have the option of selecting licenses for particular categories of DVD products and technologies. Licenses will be issued on a per-batch basis and each of these licenses will cover all the relevant essential patents owned and controlled by the patent owners participating in the One-Red patent pool. One-Red's licensing programs include DVD-Video and DVD-ROM discs.

Key Features

Key features of the One-Red Joint DVD Registration Agreements include:
  • DVD Disc license program offers a per-batch license for each shipment instead of a traditional license. Registered manufacturers and brand owners are able to obtain LSCDs (Licensed Status Confirmation Documents) to assure customers and Customs that the product is licensed.
  • A royalty rate that is reasonable and lower than royalty rates previously available.
  • Electronic royalty reporting.

Per-Batch license system

For licensees participating in the DVD Disc program, the One-Red joint DVD license requires the use of a Designated Internet Service Portal (DISP) to process the per-batch licenses and LSCDs. To access the DISP please click here.

With the DISP, authorized employees of registered parties will be able to:
  • Access information and support related to various optical license programs.
  • Request LSCDs (manufacturers with a Registration Agreement).
  • Access royalty reporting and manufacturing equipment services.
