Essential Patents

An "essential” patent is a patent that is necessary and required to implement the referenced CD or DVD standard specifications in a product, where there is no technically and commercially viable alternative. In order to comply with competition laws, no patents other than essential patents are included in One-Red’s patent pools for its various patent license programs.

Companies which believe they have a patent essential to a standard licensed under the patent license programs described above and want to participate in One-Red’s patent pool, are invited to submit their patent(s) to a patent evaluation firm to be selected by One-Red.
