Sustainable patent licensing

Patent license programs can generate sustainable license income, year after year, until the patents expire if licensees continue to use the patents and continue to report and pay.

For long term sustainability it is necessary that licensees benefit from their license and that royalty payments are compensated with the additional income obtained from selling licensed products.

Long term sustainability is threatened when licensed products have to compete with unlicensed products in the same distribution channels and when some licensees don’t report all of their production, paying royalties on only a fraction of the products they sell. Underreporting as well as the distribution of unlicensed products creates a disadvantage for licensees and in the long term that can make it difficult to operate the license program.

One-Red specializes in the prevention of under-reporting and in seeking the cooperation of distribution channels to detect and discourage the sales of unlicensed products.
